Does it cost to host?

It doesn't have to cost anything at all to host a Parlour Gig!

When the artist confirms a date for your gig, you will be charged a deposit equal to the value of 10 tickets. This is an exciting moment because it means the gig is on!

Here’s how Parlour handles your deposit: The value of 7 tickets goes to the Artist to secure travel and hold the date. The value of 3 tickets goes to Parlour to keep the platform running smoothly and to ensure Hosts like you have the best possible experience.

Your deposit is reimbursed back to you on the first business day after the gig.

What happens if I don't reach the minimum capacity?

We understand that sometimes it can be difficult to rally mates to buy tickets to your Parlour gig.
But don't stress, we have a few options to help your gig go ahead if the minimum capacity is not reached in time.

**Use deposit
**If there are 10 or less tickets remaining, the initial deposit will be used to make up the remaining tickets, and your show will be confirmed.

**Purchase the remaining
**This is the most sure-fire way to lock in your Parlour. You can then sell those tickets directly on to your friends closer to the date.

**Ask the artist to play for a lesser fee
**If more than 50% of tickets have been sold, you can opt to ask the artist to play for a lesser fee. This is entirely up to the artist and whether it's worth their time and travel. If they agree, the gig can go ahead.

We do as much as we can to get every Parlour Gig to go ahead, however, gigs to fall through from time to time.

If none of these options are suitable, the gig will be cancelled, all ticket buyers will be refunded and your deposit will be paid to the artist as a cancellation fee.

Question 3

Can I pay in full?

Absolutely!

If you'd prefer to pay in full, rather than sell tickets to your friends and family, simply select that option when applying.
If you don't select the pay in full option on your application and have since changed your mind, you can simply purchase all of the tickets after your gig goes on sale.

Preparing for your gig

How you set up the place, and what you provide at your Parlour gig is entirely up to you! We recommend "bring a plate" and "BYO drink" option, you've done enough by hosting the event.

We do ask that you offer your artist some food and something to drink if possible, they may have travelled quite a way without having time to grab something beforehand. It's also nice for your artist to have their own space to tune up, warm up, and relax in before they perform. Put some water, nibbles, maybe a beer or some wine in there too, make them feel at home.

Make a stage for your artist to play on. For example, frame a section of the room with fairy lights, use a shipping pallet with a rug on it or hang up a sheet as a backdrop. If your gig is in the evening, bedside lamps are great to use as spotlights!

Whatever you do, just make sure you enjoy your Parlour gig. We know you've worked hard for it!

Sharing your Parlour artist page

Parlour allows artists to find their biggest fans, and play shows in their homes, anywhere in the world. The way to find these fans is by sharing your Parlour page on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram along with your mailing list. Here's our guide to getting the best response from your community!

Facebook Post For your first post, we recommend a video uploaded directly to Facebook. Try keep the copy nice and simple and be sure to include your Parlour link.

If you need some assistance with this, we have internal content creators who can make you assets to share.

Mailing List Send out an exclusive newsletter to your mailing list (if you have one) letting them know you're now using Parlour to play directly to them. Instagram Post Use the same video or image that you used on Facebook and also put your Parlour page link in your Instagram bio. We recommend using Linktr.ee to add multiple links to your Instagram bio (it’s free!). Question 6

Can I publicly promote my gig?

Accepted Answer

Parlour gigs are friends only (private) events and we have a strict no public promotion policy.

Hosts may use private events on social media, text, email & word of mouth to sell tickets.

If it's discovered that a host is publicly promoting, they risk losing their gig, and their deposit will be forfeited.
